Required Items
- Device with OK Reader app installed.
- Bluetooth enabled for the OK Reader app.
Instructions
1. To verify if someone is 18 or older using the tap option in the OK Reader app, select the Over 18 reader under What are you checking?, then hit the Tap button to begin.
2. Hold the devices together until the customer’s device responds.
3. The Waiting for approval... screen displays while the customer verifies their credentials on their device.
4. After they approve sharing their verification info, the results will be displayed, confirming whether they are over 18 or under 18. Be sure to compare the credential's photo to the person using it.
- If the picture doesn't match, treat the ID as not belonging to them and ask for another form of ID, following your normal policy.
5. You may select the Close or Scan Next button to proceed.
- Passing (green) results will automatically close after a few seconds.
Additional Information
If your device does not have NFC hardware needed for the Tap option, the Tap button is hidden and the Scan button expands to full width. Use the Scan option and have the customer show their QR code.
If the customer does not verify their credential within 5 minutes, the reader will show a No Response screen.
If Bluetooth is not enabled on your device, the reader will display a Bluetooth access is off screen. Please select the Open Settings button to navigate to your device's settings and enable Bluetooth. After enabling Bluetooth, return to the OK Reader app to try again.
